INTRODUCTION OF THE TAOUYAN CITY

After Taiwan’s recovery in 1945 Taoyuan was merged under the jurisdiction of the old Hsintsu county. Until 1950 Taiwan provincial government settled the administration zones of counties and cities in Taiwan. Consequently Taoyuan county was separated from the old Hsintsu county and given the status as an independent administrative county, Taoyuan county and its administrative center has been located in Taoyuan town (Taoyuan District)

Taoyuan city lies in northwest Taiwan, with its northwest direction facing the Taiwan strait and the southeast facing the Shei Mountains. Its topography forms an inclinedly long and narrow shape little by little from the southeast to the northwest Its north is adjacent to Yiland and its south is adjacent to Hsintsu county. The geography of Taoyuan is a plateau which divides into four main areas: Taoyuan Alluvial Fan, Linco Plateau, Dahan Stream and North Shei Mountain. In addition, widely scattered ponds are also geographic features of the city. The administration area of Taoyuan City has 13 subsidiary districts with an area of 1220 square kilometers.

The City is prosperous in commerce and industry. Various shops, department stores and malls are established everywhere in downtown. In the suburbs, there are huge industrial-commercial areas, such as Taimou and Dajang. There are also numerous industrial parks such as Zhongli, Guanyin, Yoshi, Linco, Guishan, Dayua and Pingzhen. As for high technology industrial park, there are Hwaya, Lungtan, etc. As for the transportation network, the man routes include the seashore Rapid Highway, East-West Expressway, Sun Yat-Sen Freeway, Northern Second Freeway, Provincial highway, County Highway, and other local routes lead everywhere.

Air traffic at Taiwan Taoyuan Internation Airport has increased steadily. There are more than 20 millions visitors arrive and depart Taiwan through the airport every year. It expedites the progress and development of local affairs. There are more than 200 schools. In addition, the community colleges for the seniors have been established to encourage lifelong learning. Local cultural festivals are held periodically. Agriculture is also an important business, especially for agritourism, such as sweet peaches in Fuxing, lotus flowers in Guanyin and dried bean in Daxi. They are all very famous.
